I know that area he's living at outside Moab. Not the exact spot mind you, but near.
That area with running water? Paradise. Hard merciless beauty. I admire the guy. It took a long time to cut his addictions down to the point he could do what he's doing. |

So easy - Even a caveman can do it...:565:
Seriously though- Why can't the rest of us? |

Here's some grist for the GIM Mill...
"Moneyless means Free means Gratis means Grace means Gratitude. Gratitude is impossible in the world of Commerce. Freedom cannot exist in the world of Capitalism any more than a fish can live out of water. Calling it freedom does not make it freedom." |

I used to do a good deal of spelunking when I was younger and in better shape. I can attest that the temps do fluctuate...most generally accessible caves do not have the gradient change to notice a big change in temp. The temp and humidity really depends too on air flow in the cave. If the cave has multiple entries or multiple paths to the surface, it will generally be less humid and the temp swings a bit more. It is generally cooler to a point, but the humidity in a live cave is always VERY high. So, it takes a little getting used to. |

I love his ideals, but I'd have to build myself a cabin or atleast a front fascia for the cave. I'm not that hardcore.

He's not a hobo, he's a bum. Hobos and tramps are itinerant, bums aren't. Tramps will work, hobos and bums won't. None of them are ever known for any philosophical contribution; society's admiration for them follows cycles. Admiration for slobs and rebels grows as a society slips toward collapse, with a general rejection of all forms of excellence. This stuff is all fully explained at The Coming Dark Age.

There are at least two or three threads about this loser...
http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=393225 There is an important distinction between being self-sufficient, and just being a worthless bum who contributes nothing to society, and subsides on other people's garbage. |
